NY Bar Exam Test-Taking Tips

From Bar/Bri Bar Review

Tip #11

Can I write in pencil? If I use a pen, what color ink should I use? Can I type my answers? Can I use White Out?

Your essays and the Multistate Performance Test should be written in blue or black pen. Do not get creative in your choice of pen color at this juncture in your life. The New York multiple choice section and the Multistate Bar Exam are to be answered with a #2 pencil. Bring lots of both with you.

You cannot type your answers unless you have applied for special accommodations and have been approved.

White Out (even the quick-drying version) is overkill and time consuming. If you make a mistake, put one line though it. Don’t scratch it out until you have a hole in your paper. The grader will ignore whatever you’ve crossed out with a single line.
