NY Bar Exam Test-Taking Tips

From Bar/Bri Bar Review

Tip #7

I don’t do well in big crowds. Is there some way to avoid taking the test at the Javits Center?

If the residence on your bar application is in the First or Second Departments, you will take the test at the Javits Center, unless you have applied for special accommodations (an application which needed to be made 90 days prior to the exam). The Board of Law Examiners will notify you if your special accommodations have been approved.

If the residence on your bar application is in the Buffalo area, you will take the exam in Buffalo. If the residence on your bar application is in the Albany area OR if your residence on the bar application is out of New York State, you will take the exam in Albany.

While taking the test at the Javits Center with thousands of others may sound intimidating, most people report that once they are handed the exam, they block out the world around them.
