Gloria Herron Arthur has become the new director of pro bono affairs for the New York State Bar Association.
Ms. Herron Arthur was formerly with Castillo & Associates in Albany, where she focused on criminal defense, parole, trial and appellate practice and representing employers in employment discrimination cases.
At the state bar, she will work with staff and attorneys across the state to increase the availability of attorneys willing to serve pro bono. Ms. Herron Arthur will also work on the state bar's Empire State Counsel Award program, which recognizes attorneys and firms who provide at least 50 hours a year of pro bono service.
The former pro bono director, Cynthia Feathers, has taken a job at Arroyo, Copland & Associates in Albany.
